Eric Lederhandler

Recently appointed as Associate Principal Conductor at Teatro Goldoni Livorno, Eric Lederhandler is now developing his musical activities in Italy (Orchestra di San Remo , Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana , Orchestra Metropolitana di Bari , .....)  

Eric Lederhandler  made his debut with Orchestre Philarmonique Royal de Liège in  January  2020.

First foreign conductor to be appointed as Music Director with a symphonic orchestra in China, Eric Lederhandler was recently appointed to this function at the Jiangsu Symphony Orchestra (Nanking). He is nominated until March 2014. Eric Lederhandler was born in 1965 in Uccle, Belgium. After studying the piano at music school, he entered the Conservatoire of Brussels where he studied the harpsichord, chamber music and the complete study of composing and writing music. He also completed his choir conducting diploma. Eric Lederhandler attained the top level of the “Wiener Meisterkurse für Dirigenten” under the direction of Salvador Mas Conde. This allowed him to conduct at the “Grosser Sendesaal” of the “ORF Funkhaus” (Austrian National Broadcasting Corporation) in Vienna.

In 1992, he founded the chamber orchestra “Nuove Musiche”, where he is the conductor in Belgium and overseas.

He received valuable instruction from Frank Shipway and from Yuri Simonov and regularly collaborates with the opera house “la Monnaie”, the “Opéra Royal de Wallonie”, “The Flemish Opera”, the Russian Opera House of Kazan and the Chinese Opera House in Shanghai. He was the conductor of the “Opera Mobile” and is currently the conductor in the opera production house “Idée Fixe”.

Eric Lederhandler was nominated the first chosen guest conductor at the Vidin State Philharmonic Orchestra in Bulgaria and he still collaborates with many orchestras:  the Turkish Symphonic Orchestra from Adana, the Noord Nederlands Orchestra and the Limburg Symphonic Orchestra in Holland, the Sewanee Orchestra in the USA, the “Deutsche Kammerorchester” in Germany, the Liepaja Symphonic Orchestra in Lithuania, the “Czech Virtuosi” in the Czech Republic, the “Orchestre Régional de l’Ile de France”, the “Bell’Arte” Orchestra , the Philharmonic Orchestra in Monte-Carlo , the Orchestre National de Lorraine in Metz , the Oltenia Filarmonica in Craiova (Roumenia) ,  the Cairo Symphony Orchestra (Egypt) , the Central Philharmonic Orchestra, Beijing, the Beijing Symphonic Orchestra, the Shanghai Symphonic Orchestra, the Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chinese National Symphony Orchestra. He is regularly invited as a guest at the Conservatoire in Sichuan, China, where he conducts the orchestra and where he gives master classes in conducting. These projects are supported by the Belgian French-Speaking Community.

In Belgium, he has conducted the “Ensemble Vocal” of the RTBF and the choirs of the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels. He has collaborated as guest director with the Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonie, the Symphonic Orchestra of the Royal Conservatoire and the Belgian National Orchestra.

Violin

"His name often appears on international concert programmes when there is an aura of the exquisite, top-class" (Berliner Morgenpost): The Russian violin virtuoso has established himself as one of the most profound and versatile musicians of his generation. His repertoire includes over fifty violin concertos and hundreds of chamber works, some of which he premiered. He is a frequent guest at the Grands Interprètes music series in Geneva and Spectrum Concerts Berlin, bringing him to the Berlin Philharmonie in every season since 2008.

Boris Brovtsyn has performed with, among others, Sir Neville Marriner, Vladimir Jurowski, Neemi Jarvi, Marek Janowski, Vassili Sinaisky, Yan Pascal Tortelier, Mikhail Jurowski, Gerd Albrecht, Alexander Vedernikov, Michael Sanderling, Arvo Volmer and Antony Wit. Mr Brovtsyn has appeared with Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, London Philharmonic, Warsaw Philharmonic, the Royal Danish Orchestra, Russian National Orchestra, Berlin Radio Symphony, São Paulo Symphony, Academy of St. Martin in the Fields and the BBC Symphony, BBC Philharmonic and BBC Scottish Symphony orchestras.

An avid chamber musician, Boris has collaborated with Janine Jansen, Gidon Kremer, Misha Maisky, Kyung-wha Chung, Itamar Golan, Julian Rachlin, Gary Hoffman, Clemens Hagen, Maxim Rysanov, Daishin Kashimoto, Martin Fröst, Nelson Goerner and Denis Matsuev at festivals such as the Salzburg Festival, Verbier Festival and Edinburgh Festival, at the Enescu Festival in Bucharest, the festivals of Stavanger, Campos do Jordão, Annecy, Utrecht, Jerusalem, and Moscow's December Nights.

Boris Brovtsyn appears on numerous CD’s with Decca, BIS, Onyx and Naxos labels. His recording of Schubert and Schoenberg chamber works with Janine Jansen has won the ECHO Klassik award and the Brahms clarinet quintet with Martin Fröst was nominated for the Gramophone award. He has recorded an all-Schulhoff disc in January 2016, and his CD of Ysaye's solo violin sonatas was released in 2018 to great critical acclaim.

A fourth-generation musician, Boris started to play violin under the guidance of his grandfather, a student of Lev Tzeitlin and Abram Yampolsky. After graduating from the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where he studied with Maya Glezarova, Boris made his UK debut with the BBC Philharmonic conducted by Rumon Gamba and soon relocated to London. He completed his studies with David Takeno at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and has taught there himself from 2010 until 2016.

Based in Vienna, Boris Brovtsyn holds a professorship at the MUK Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität in Vienna. He also chaired a class at the Trinity College of Music in Greenwich and has given masterclasses all around the world, including Korea, Thailand and Brazil.

Orchestra del Teatro Goldoni di Livorno

The Teatro Goldoni Orchestra established in 2020 from the main reference staff of the opera and symphonic seasons of the Theater has, over time, assumed connotations of stability, refinement and search for sonorities.

It represents a national and international point of reference for its Symphony Season and its productions such as Sheherazade by Rismky Korsakov performed for the first time in Livorno in November 2022 or Tchaikovsky's Symphony VI repeated 90 years after the first Italian performance conducted by Pietro Mascagni.

The artistic specificities of the orchestra are to be found in the Mascagnano, Pucciniano and Verdian opera repertoire. He actively participates every year in the Mascagni Festival in Livorno, giving new life to works by the composer from Livorno par excellence.

The conductors and soloists with whom the orchestra has collaborated have appreciated its dynamism and availability. The artists who have been able to appreciate it over time are: Anderson Dean, De Lorenzo Giancarlo, Fratta Gianna, Madaras Gergely, NG Wilson, Raskin Daniel, Smbatyan Sergey, Warner John, Blaumane Kristīna – Cellist, Brovtsyn Boris – Violinist, Cafaro Nicolò – Pianist, Chiacchiaretta Cesare – Bandoneonist, de Niese Danielle – Soprano, De Palma Dino – Violinist and Violist, Furia Fabio – Bandoneonist, Itamar Zorman – Violinist, Meloni Fabrizio – Clarinetist. Pellegrino Ettore – Violinist, Quaranta Salvatore – Violinist, Ruggiero Salvatore – Oboist, Semchuk Olexander – Violinist, Taverna Alessandro – Pianist, Yeol Eum Son – Pianist, Zhou Nancy – Violinist.

The Principal Conductor of the Orchestra is Maestro Eric Lederhandler, the Associate Conductor is Gianluca J. Greco.

In 2022, the Orchestra performed 82 concerts, 60% of which at the Teatro Goldoni in Livorno, and the remainder at important theaters such as the Ariston Theater in Sanremo, the Teatro Sociale in Camogli, the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome and made co-productions with important symphonic institutions such as the Sanremo Symphony Orchestra, the Abruzzese Symphony Orchestra, the Bari Symphony Orchestra and the Sicilian Symphony Orchestra. He took part in the staging of 6 operas and strengthened institutional connections through the EU-funded project “Accordi Musicali”.

The YOM 2022 Competition saw the participation of 287 young instrumentalists for scholarships of €10,000.
